How to Pin a Comment on TikTok

On a TikTok LIVE, tap the comment and choose Pin this comment. On regular videos the answer has changed: TikTok's Help Center now documents pinning only for LIVE, and many creators report the option has gone from their videos. Here is what still works, and what to use instead.

How do you pin a comment on a TikTok LIVE?

In the TikTok app, during your LIVE, per TikTok's LIVE comments help page:

  • Tap the comment in the LIVE chat. You can also tap the viewer's profile, then More.
  • Tap Pin this comment.
  • The comment sits at the top of the chat for a short while. TikTok does not say exactly how long.
  • Pinning is app only. On the web, LIVE chat offers reply, report, mute and block, but no pin.

Can you still pin a comment on a TikTok video?

Maybe, depending on your account. TikTok's current help pages on comments and managing comments do not mention pinning on videos at all, and creators have been reporting since early 2025 that the option disappeared. TikTok has published nothing about removing it.

If your app still offers it, it lives where it always did: on your own video, press and hold the comment and look for Pin. If there is no Pin in that menu, the feature is not available on your account, and no setting brings it back.

Anyone quoting a precise pin limit for videos is quoting another blog; TikTok has never documented one.

Can you pin a comment on someone else's TikTok?

No. Pinning has only ever been the creator's control on their own video or LIVE, and nothing in TikTok's help pages gives viewers any way to pin. On a LIVE, moderators can manage comments only if the creator gives them comment permissions.

What can you use instead of a pinned comment?

The point of a pinned comment was to put one message where everyone sees it. These do the same job without it:

  • Put it in the caption. Rules, links and corrections belong there first, because the caption travels with the video everywhere.
  • Answer in a comment of your own. Reply to the most common question on your video. A useful answer collects likes and rises up the thread.
  • Add a comment poll. TikTok added polls to comments in September 2026: up to five options, added from the comment box on your own video.
  • Post a follow-up video. For anything important, such as a giveaway winner drawn with a TikTok comment picker, a short video reaches more people than any comment.

Which comment would you pin?

Usually the most liked useful one. The TikTok comment viewer lists a video's comments sorted by likes, so you can see which comment your audience has already pushed to the top and reply to it, quote it in the caption, or answer it in your next video.
