How to Turn Off Comments on TikTok
For one video: open it, tap More options, Privacy settings, and switch off Allow comments. For every video at once, TikTok no longer offers an off switch, but you can limit who can comment and filter what gets through. Both are covered here, from TikTok's own help pages.

How do you turn off comments on a TikTok video?
In the TikTok app, per TikTok's manage comments page:
- Before posting: on the Post screen, tap More options and switch off Allow comments.
- On a posted video: open it, tap More options (…), tap Privacy settings, and switch off Allow comments.
- Closing a giveaway? Switching comments off at the deadline freezes the entries. Then draw from them with the giveaway comment picker, which reads the comments already posted.
How do you limit who can comment on all your videos?
Go to Profile, Menu (☰), Settings and privacy, Privacy, Comments, then Allow comments from, and choose one of three:
- Everyone, available on public accounts.
- Followers, available on private accounts.
- Friends: followers you follow back.
- Older guides mention a No one option that switched comments off everywhere. TikTok's current help page no longer lists it, so if your app does not show it either, turn comments off video by video instead.
How do you filter TikTok comments instead of turning them off?
The same Comments screen has filters that hide comments rather than blocking all of them:
- Filter all comments holds every comment until you approve it. TikTok says this is not available to everyone yet.
- Creator Care Mode hides offensive comments and comments that were previously reported, deleted or disliked.
- Filter unwanted comments hides likely spam and offensive comments.
- Filter keywords in comments: switch on Filter specific keywords, then Add keywords.
- Review filtered comments is where held comments wait for you to approve or delete them.
What are the comment rules for teen accounts?
TikTok sets stricter defaults by age:
- Ages 13 to 15: who can comment is fixed to Friends and cannot be changed. Comments can still be switched off on each post.
- Ages 16 and 17, private account: starts at Followers; can be changed to Friends.
- Ages 16 and 17, public account: starts at Everyone; can be changed to Friends.
How do you turn off comments on a TikTok LIVE?
LIVE has its own controls, set from the LIVE screen in the app: comments on or off, spam and unkind-comment filters, muting, and up to 500 blocked keywords of up to 30 characters each. On the web you only get comments on or off and the mute duration. TikTok's LIVE comments page has the full list.
