TikTok Giveaway Ideas and Caption Templates
Ten giveaway formats that suit TikTok, the captions to post them with, and the announcement and message templates for the end. Each idea says which of its entry rules a comment picker can check for you and which you will be checking by hand, because that is the difference between a ten-minute draw and an evening.

What makes a good TikTok giveaway idea?
A good idea has three parts: a prize your audience wants and strangers do not, one entry action anyone can do in a comment, and a reason the giveaway is happening now. The prize decides who enters, the entry action decides how many, and the reason (a milestone, a launch, a season) is what makes it a video rather than an advert.
Comment-based entry suits TikTok best. It is where the audience already is, it costs the entrant one tap and a few words, and it leaves a public record you can draw from. How to run a TikTok giveaway covers the prize choice in more depth.
Which TikTok giveaway ideas work best?
These ten cover most of what creators and small businesses run. The last column is what decides the workload on draw day.
| Idea | Entry | Can a picker check it? |
|---|---|---|
| Question of the day | Answer a question in the comments | Yes, every comment is an entry |
| Tag a friend | Comment and tag one or two friends | Yes, tags are counted |
| Hashtag entry | Comment with your giveaway hashtag | Yes, the hashtag is matched |
| Milestone thank-you | Comment to celebrate 10k, 100k, a birthday | Yes |
| Help me choose | Vote for a colour, flavour or design in a comment | Yes, and you get product feedback |
| Launch giveaway | Comment the product name or a keyword | Yes, the keyword is matched |
| Creator collab | Comment on both creators' videos | Partly: draw each video, then compare by hand |
| Seasonal bundle | Comment what you would use it for | Yes |
| Follow to enter | Follow, then comment | No, follows are not public. Check winners by hand |
| Duet or stitch challenge | Make a video | No, that is a judged contest, not a draw |
- If you add "follow to enter", draw backups in the same draw. You will need them for the winners who turn out not to follow.
- A duet or stitch challenge is judged on merit, which makes it a contest with different rules. TikTok giveaway rules explains the difference.
What should a TikTok giveaway caption say?
Every template below has the five things a caption needs: the entry action, the deadline with a timezone, who can enter, how the winner is announced, and the disclosure if a brand gave the prize. Replace the parts in square brackets and cut what does not apply.
Simple comment entry: "GIVEAWAY 🎁 We're giving away [prize]. To enter, comment your answer: [question]. One entry per person. Closes [date, time, timezone]. Open to [countries], 18+. The winner is drawn at random from the comments and announced in the comments on [date]. Not affiliated with TikTok."
Tag a friend: "Win [prize] for you AND a friend 💛 Comment and tag 1 friend to enter (more tags won't add entries). Closes [date, time, timezone]. Open to [countries], 18+. Winner picked at random and announced here on [date]. They'll have 72 hours to reply."
Hashtag entry: "[Brand] x [creator] giveaway! Comment #[YourHashtag] to enter. Comments without the hashtag won't count. Ends [date, time, timezone]. [Countries], 18+. #ad: prize provided by [brand]. Winner announced [date]."
Milestone: "We hit [milestone] 🥹 To say thanks, I'm giving away [prize]. Comment your favourite video of mine to enter. Closes [date, time, timezone]. Open to [countries]. Random winner, announced [date]."
How do you announce a TikTok giveaway winner?
Announce in public first, then message. A public announcement lets every entrant see the result, and it means the winner is not relying on a DM that looks exactly like the scams their inbox is full of. Post the announcement as a comment on the original video, pin it if your account can, and post it as a video too if the giveaway was big.
Announcement comment: "🎉 Giveaway winner: @[username]! Drawn at random from [number] entries on [date] using [tool]. Draw details: [video link, nonce]. @[username], reply here or DM us within 72 hours to claim. Thank you all for entering!"
Message to the winner: "Hi @[username], you won our [prize] giveaway on [date] 🎉 To claim it, reply with your shipping name and address by [date, time, timezone]. We will never ask for payment, a card number or your password."
Backup winner: "We didn't hear back from @[first winner] within the 72 hours stated in the rules, so the prize goes to our first backup from the same draw: @[username]! Please reply within 72 hours to claim."
What should giveaway terms and conditions cover?
Short terms for a comment giveaway fit in the caption, a comment of your own, or a link in your bio. This is a checklist of what to cover, not legal advice; promotion law depends on where you and your entrants are.
- Who runs it, and that TikTok does not sponsor or endorse it.
- Eligibility: minimum age and the countries you can ship to.
- How to enter, how many entries count per person, and that entry is free.
- Dates: when entries open and close, with a timezone.
- The prize, its value, and that there is no cash alternative.
- How the winner is chosen: at random, from valid entries, using a named tool.
- How the winner is told, how long they have to claim, and what happens if they do not.
- What you need from the winner (a shipping address) and what you will never ask for.
