TikTok Username Finder

Know someone's name but not their TikTok @username? Search for it here. The finder lists the accounts TikTok matches to a name or a fragment of a handle, with each one's follower count, so you can tell the real account from the fan pages and copy the exact username.

How do you find someone's TikTok username?

Type the name you know into the box above, the way they would write it on their profile, and press Find accounts. You get TikTok's matching accounts in TikTok's own order of relevance, about thirty at a time, each with its @username and follower count. Load more fetches the next page.

Then copy the handle with the copy button, open the profile on TikTok, or tap the person icon to see their profile picture full size and make sure it is the person you mean.

It is also the quickest way to tag the right account when announcing a giveaway winner: the comment picker gives you the winner's handle, and the finder confirms which of several look-alike accounts it belongs to.

Why isn't the right account first?

Because a well-known name is shared by fan pages, parody accounts and impersonators, and TikTok's search order is its own. Three things separate the real account:

  • Follower count. The real account is almost always the largest by a wide margin.
  • The verified badge, which shows on the profile itself once you open it.
  • The username. Fan pages tend to add words like fan, official, respect or a run of numbers.

How do you check whether a TikTok username is taken?

Look it up exactly in the profile picture viewer. If an account uses it, the profile comes up; if not, you get a "no account uses this username" message. That means it is not in use right now, which is not quite the same as available: TikTok can hold back names, so the app has the last word when you try to claim it.

What are TikTok's username rules?

From TikTok's username help page:

  • 2 to 24 characters.
  • Letters, numbers, underscores and periods only, and it cannot end with a period.
  • It can be changed once every 30 days, and changing it changes your profile link too.
  • A username you give up cannot be put back on an account for a short while, and you cannot take one that belongs to a suspended or deactivated account.
  • To change yours: Profile, Edit profile, Username, then Save. Verified accounts have to ask TikTok.

What can't the username finder find?

Anything TikTok's own account search does not return, such as banned or deleted accounts. It cannot look anyone up by email or phone number, and it never will: that information is not public.
