How to Pick a TikTok Giveaway Winner
Picking a TikTok giveaway winner takes five steps: close entries at the stated time, paste the video link into a comment picker, apply the rules from your caption, draw at random, and check the winner by hand. The draw takes seconds. What makes it fair is everything around it, so this guide spends its time there.

How do you pick a winner on TikTok?
TikTok does not document a winner picker for regular videos, so hosts use a TikTok comment picker: a tool that reads the public comments on one video and draws from them. No TikTok login is needed for a public video. The whole job looks like this:
- Close entries at the time your caption stated, not when the comments slow down.
- Copy the link: on the video, tap Share, then Copy link.
- Paste it into the picker and check it shows the right video.
- Set the rules from your caption: a required hashtag or word, 1 to 10 tagged friends, one entry per person, and excluding your own account.
- Run the draw, once, and keep the record it gives you.
- Check the winner by hand against anything the picker cannot see, then announce.
What makes a TikTok giveaway draw fair?
A draw is fair when every eligible entry has the same chance and the rules were fixed before the first comment. That comes down to three decisions, and all three are made before you press anything.
- One entry per person, or one per comment? Without a limit, someone who comments 40 times has 40 times the chance. If your caption says one entry each, turn on the one-entry-per-person rule.
- Is your own account out? Your own comments on the video count as entries unless you exclude them. Exclude the host so you cannot win your own giveaway.
- Do the rules match the caption exactly? Setting a stricter rule than you published removes people who entered properly, and that is the complaint you will not be able to answer.
How do you prove the winner was picked at random?
Post something a stranger can check. A screen recording shows that a tool ran, but it cannot show that the list going in was complete, so it is weak proof on its own.
The picker on this site shows a draw record under the winners: a fresh nonce and a SHA-256 seed built from the video, your rules and the eligible entries. Anyone with the same entries and the same nonce gets the same winners, which is what makes the result something to re-run rather than something to believe. How the draw is made verifiable explains the method. Copy the record and post it with the announcement, alongside the number of eligible entries.
Can a picker check that the winner followed you?
No. Whether someone follows you, liked the video or watched it is not visible in a comment, so no comment picker can enforce it. If your rules ask for a follow, draw first and then open the winner's profile and check by hand. You only have to check the winner, so it takes a minute.
If they do not qualify, say so and move to the next name. That is why the replacement rule belongs in your caption or announcement before you need it. Pro draws up to 20 backups in the same draw; on the free plan, say in advance that a replacement will come from a new draw on the same video.
Can you pick a TikTok winner with a wheel?
You can, but a wheel is an animation over a random choice, not a fairer way of making one, and it adds a step where entries can go missing. Someone has to copy names into it, and a wheel holding 1,000 names is unreadable on a phone. A viewer cannot tell whether every entry was on it.
Reading the comments straight from the video removes that step. This picker has no wheel for that reason. If you want the reveal on camera, record the draw itself.
How many comments can be drawn from?
Check this before you trust any result, because a free tier that stops partway is drawing from a sample of your giveaway. Here, videos with up to 500 comments by TikTok's count are free and read in full, with 1 to 5 winners. Bigger videos are read in full with a Draw Pass or Pro. The draw covers top-level comments, not replies, so a rule that counts replies needs a different tool: comment picker alternatives compares them.
To keep a copy of the entries as they stood at the deadline, export the comments to CSV before you draw.
How do you pick a winner from a TikTok LIVE?
Not with a comment picker. LIVE chat is not video comments and cannot be read back afterwards. Either collect the entries as comments on a regular video, or use TikTok Shop's own LIVE Giveaway feature, which TikTok's US policy requires for Shop sellers and creators. TikTok LIVE giveaway covers both routes.
How do you announce a TikTok giveaway winner?
Announce publicly, by username, with how long the winner has to claim the prize. A public post is harder to fake than a DM, and winners are right to be wary of prize messages. Never ask a winner for a payment, card details or a login. Giveaway ideas and templates has an announcement and a DM ready to copy, and how to run a TikTok giveaway covers what to do when the winner never replies.
